WATSON DELAY: The Watson Island development selection committee's recommendation may be postponed, said Commissioner Tomās Regalado. The committee was to meet Aug. 30 to recommend which of three companies should develop the northwestern part of the island to City Manager Carlos Gimenez. Mr. Regalado said consulting firm PricewaterhouseCoopers didn't get materials relating to the proposals in time. He said he hopes the recommendation would be ready Sept. 6. Competing developers are Flagstone Properties of Miami and Orlando, Swerdlow Marine Properties of Hollywood, and Watson Island Partners, a venture between BAP Development of Miami and Millennium Partners of New York.
CARGO ROUTE: Fort Lauderdale-based Amerijet International, an all-cargo line, has added a route from Miami to Barcelona, Venezuela. Barcelona, on the nation's northeastern coast, is a center for oil drilling. Amerijet, founded in 1974, maintains a fleet of 12 Boeing 727-200s, each with capacity for 60,000 pounds of cargo.

HOPE VI is a $3.6 billion US Housing & Urban Development program to replace dilapidated public housing with single-family homes. In 1999, Miami got $35 million in HOPE VI funds for the two housing projects, where plans call for 215 new public housing units and 247 homes for sale.
