ART 8/12 CRYSTAL PALACEThe Museum of Contemporary Art presents Othoniel - Crystal Palace, an exhibition of the glass sculptures created by French artist Jean-Michel Othoniel. ONE MAN'S TRASH Tom "Captain Honk" Bintz, an environmental sculptor, presents an exhibition of his artwork created from debris found along coastlines around the world. He has used the trash left by beachgoers as a medium of expression to encourage environmental awareness. SOMETHING FROM NOTHING Brazilian artist Jac Lernier will present her first solo US exhibit, Adhesive 44, a display of abstract creations made from normally discarded objects. THE PHOTOGRAPHY OF DESIGN The Wolfsonian-FIU presents an exhibition devoted to the early works of Margaret Bourke-White, who later became Life magazine's first cover photographer. MIAMI BEACH VINTAGE The Miami Design Preservation League presents the "Wish You Were Here" art exhibit featuring vintage postcards of Miami Beach's historic architecture. ART MUSEUMS Thursday 8/12 MIAMI ART MUSEUMExhibition Chuck Close Prints: Process and Collaboration, created by painter Chuck Close. Formerly on display at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, the 118 works in various media present the human face in a series of grid-like abstractions that comprise a whole image when assembled by the human eye. SUITE 347 The Bass Museum of Art presents 347 prints created by 87-year-old Pablo Picasso between March and October 1968. LIBERTY AT MERRICK The Village of Merrick Park and ART+ Gallery bring the original cast used to create the Statue of Liberty's head to Merrick Park for public viewing. Designed by French sculptor Frederic Bartholdi and Gustave Eiffel, the Statue of Liberty was a gift from the French to the US in 1886 in celebration of the US' 100th anniversary as a free nation.
