ART Thursday 9/23 JAZZ TO SEE AND HEARThe Barbara Gillman Gallery will host the exhibit Jazz to See and Hear, featuring the works of jazz photographers William Gottlieb and Herman Leonard, seen in "Ken Burns' Jazz" on PBS. PRESIDENTIAL PHOTOGRAPHY The University of Miami will host a presidential photography exhibit featuring a selection of presidential images from Pictures of the Year International. SOMETHING FROM NOTHING Brazilian artist Jac Lernier will present her first solo US exhibit, Adhesive 44, a display of abstract creations made from normally discarded objects. THE PHOTOGRAPHY OF DESIGN The Wolfsonian-FIU presents an exhibition devoted to the early works of Margaret Bourke-White, who later became Life magazine's first cover photographer. IT'S DEBATABLE The Lowe Art Museum presents an exhibition featuring the art of Chan Lowe and Jim Morin, South Florida political cartoonists. SOUTH FLORIDA ARTISTS Miami Art Museum will present the work of 13 artists selected as recipients of the South Florida Cultural Consortium Fellowship for Visual and Media Artists. Special section includes the impact and history of the South Florida Cultural Consortium. Exhibit aims to bring awareness to the arts program and the community while identifying and collecting materials that are relative to the environment we live in. UNNATURALLY The Lowe Art Museum will present UnNaturally, an exhibit featuring 43 works created with artificial materials that raise issues about our mediated environment. MIAMI BEACH VINTAGE The Miami Design Preservation League presents its Wish You Were Here exhibit featuring vintage postcards of Miami Beach's historic architecture. ART MUSEUMS Thursday 9/23 LIBERTY AT MERRICKThe Village of Merrick Park and ART+ Gallery bring the original cast used to create the Statue of Liberty's head to Merrick Park for public viewing. Designed by French sculptor Frederic Bartholdi and Gustave Eiffel, the Statue of Liberty was a gift from the French to the US in 1886 in celebration of the US' 100th anniversary as a free nation. IN SITU The Museum of Contemporary Art will present In Situ, the permanent collection of large-scale installations by contemporary artists.
