South Florida native Thomas Bartelmo ushers in second century for real estate company J.I. Kislak

It was 100 years ago that the Kislak family founded the company that provides a range of real estate investment and asset management, property management and brokerage services from its national headquarters in Miami Lakes.
Heading J.I. Kislak Inc. and its subsidiaries as president and chief executive officer is a longtime Broward County resident, Thomas Bartelmo, who began his career as a senior tax manager with the prestigious public accounting firm KPMG Peat Marwick before being tapped while still in his 20s by Jay Kislak in 1995 to take a key role in his company.
In his leadership role, Mr. Bartelmo, 40, has been at the forefront of the acquisition of more than $225 million worth of multifamily dwellings with 3,492 apartments, provided equity investment for more than $150 million worth of development deals, presided over the management of more than $400 million worth of real estate and directed a Woodbridge, NJ real estate brokerage operation with $9 million in annual gross commissions and brokering more than $500 million in annual sales.
Mr. Bartelmo was interviewed by Miami Today international editor Michael Hayes.
