AFTER THE INK DRIES: Banco do Brasil will need the stamp of approval from the Federal Reserve's board of governors and the Florida Office of Financial Regulation before it can buy Coral Gables-based Eurobank, according to a state spokesperson. Banco do Brasil said Monday it's in advanced talks to acquire the local franchise, which maintains offices in Coral Gables, Boca Raton and Pompano Beach. Banco do Brasil has said it will spend less than $50 million on its expansion into the US. Eurobank, according to the Federal Deposit Insurance Corp.'s website, held $102 million in assets and $96 million in deposits. As of the quarter ending Dec. 31, it had $4.2 million in noncurrent loans and leases and lost $284,000. WHICH WAY?: The Miami Downtown Development Authority's plans to install a signage and wayfinding system are pending a vote by Miami commissioners today (4/14). The legislation up for approval would authorize the city manager to execute an agreement between the city and the Florida Department of Transportation for the project. When complete, the system is geared to aid visitors with useful information, locating important landmarks and transportation and creating modern, cohesive signage downtown. UNEMPLOYMENT DROP: Seasonally-adjusted Miami-Dade County unemployment dropped for a second month in February to 13.1% from 13.3% in January, according to the county's Office of Economic Development and International Trade. Employment of Miami-Dade residents climbed nearly 3,700 from January to February while the labor force grew by roughly 550 people.
