CHAPLIN SPECIAL
   The Cosford Cinema screens Charlie Chaplin's iconic silent, "The Gold Rush," with an original musical score created and performed by students from the University of Miami's Frost School of Music. The film tells of a bumbling prospector and his search for gold and love in Alaska, and features some of Chaplin's most memorable sequences, including the roll dance, the walking chicken and shoe dinner. As part of the cinema's Chaplin celebration, it showcases the winning short films of the first silent student film competition before the main feature on Thursday. 7 p.m. Additional screenings through April 22.    "The Salt of Life" tells of Gianni, a man who reaches a certain age and feels his vitality waning. Watching his eccentric friends snare beautiful younger women on the sun-kissed cobblestones of Trastevere, Rome, Gianni tries his polite, utterly gracious best to generate some kind of extracurricular love life-with both hilarious and poignant results. 7 p.m. Additional screenings through April 22. GIRL ON A MISSION
   "The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo" is the first film in Columbia Pictures' three-picture adaptation of Stieg Larsson's literary blockbuster "The Millennium Trilogy." Directed by David Fincher, the film is based on the first novel in the trilogy and introduces the unforgettable slacker/sleuth Lisbeth Salander, who helps a journalist solve a haunting family mystery involving the disappearance of a young woman.

   The Miami Jazz Society screens "My Fair Lady" and "Shall We Dance." "My Fair Lady" is the adaptation of the Broadway musical about professor Henry Higgins, who takes a bet from Colonel Pickering that he can transform unrefined, dirty Cockney flower girl Eliza Doolittle into a lady and fool everyone into thinking she really is one. He does, and aristocrat Freddy Eynsford-Hill falls madly in love with her. But when Higgins takes all the credit and forgets to acknowledge her efforts, Eliza angrily leaves him for Freddy, and suddenly Higgins realizes he's grown accustomed to her face and can't really live without it. "Shall We Dance" is a Japanese film telling of Shohei Sugiyama, who has attained all that he has wanted in life. But he is still depressed and unhappy. One day, he gathers up the courage to sign up for dancing lessons.
