ARTIST TALK
   The Miami Art Museum hosts an opening reception for video installation exhibit "Kimsooja: A Needle Woman," featuring Korean artist Kimsooja. Eight synchronized videos projected at large scale depict a bustling area of a major metropolitan center: Cairo, Delhi, Lagos, London, Mexico City, New York, Shanghai and Tokyo. In each projection, a lone figure in neutral gray clothes stands motionless with her back to the camera. With this gesture, the artist attempts to exemplify the struggle to preserve a place for the individual within contemporary society. 6-9 p.m. 6:30 p.m. artist talk. Exhibit through Aug. 26. ON THE ROAD
   Solo exhibit "Ed Ruscha: On the Road" features paintings, drawings and photographs by Mr. Ruscha as inspired by Jack Keroauc's novel "On the Road." Both artists transformed the use of language in commenting on the shifting character of the American cultural landscape. Tuesday-Saturday 11 a.m.-5 p.m. Wednesday 1-9 p.m. Sunday noon-5 p.m. Exhibit through Sept. 2. Museum of Contemporary Art, 770 NE 125th St., North Miami. Free for museum members. $10 others. TRANSCULTURAL PILGRIM
   Exhibit "Transcultural Pilgrim: Three Decades of Work by Josè Bedia" features 35 artworks by the Miami-based artist.
