Festival Miami opens with Leon Fleisher conducting the Frost Symphony Orchestra. The program ranges from Ludwig von Beethoven's "Coriolan Overture," based on a tragic tale of Roman conquest, to Sergei Rachmaninoff's sweeping "Symphony No. 2," evocative of the composer's flight from his Russian homeland.
