Property tax appeal refund wait up to 2 years

    Miami-Dade taxpayers are growing impatient as their property tax refunds are slow to arrive and thousands of last year's petitions to reduce assessments are still waiting to be heard.
   Gary Simon, who owns seven commercial properties in Miami-Dade County, is still awaiting refunds for successful property tax appeals from 2010 and 2011.
   Mr. Simon, who employs a property tax appeal group to petition on his behalf, said an appeal lodged for one of his properties in 2010 was heard by the Value Adjustment Board in March 2012. This property received a $77,000 reduction on the taxable value assessment, he said.
