Herald building owner in preservation fight

    Historic preservationists could be heading for a showdown at Miami City Hall with Malaysia-based conglomerate Genting over the company's plan to build a massive casino resort on the site of the Miami Herald on Biscayne Bay.
   The city's Historic and Environmental Preservation Board has scheduled its second and possibly final hearing for Dec. 10 on a proposal by the Dade Heritage Trust to designate the Herald as a historic building, effectively thwarting or at least drastically altering Genting's plan for Resorts World Miami.
