Staffing shortage imperils tourism growth

    The Greater Miami Convention & Visitors Bureau expects a record first quarter, raising concerns about federal staffing shortages delaying processing of the growing number of international passengers at Miami International Airport.
   Bureau President and CEO William Talbert III called staffing shortages in US Customs and Border Protection, part of the Department of Homeland Security, "a disgrace" after the airport invested $180 million to open a new, expanded Federal Inspection Services facility.
   "We need adequate staffing," he said Monday. "We're hoping the US government will solve the problem."
