| ART Thursday 1/31 NEW ARTThe City of Coral Gables presents "New Art for the New Year," an exhibit celebrating art from galleries in Coral Gables. The show features a variety of select Latin American, Cuban, European and American paintings, mixed-media and sculptural works. Noon-6 p.m. Tue.-Fri. 11 a.m.-5 p.m. Sat. Noon-5 p.m. Sun. DIRECTOR RETROSPECTIVE Miami Beach Cinematheque hosts features "The Alchemist: Alejandro Jodorowsky" retrospective and poster exhibition, featuring four Jodorowsky's films, including one with a live web cast introduction by himself. This Chilean-born director's films were heavily influences by surrealism. Screenings include "El Topo," "Fando y Lis," "The Holy Mountain," and "Santa Sangre." 8 p.m. Exhibit through Feb. 28.
