County asks to tap tourist promotion tax

    Miami-Dade commissioners have unanimously urged the Florida Legislature to expand potential use of the 2% tourist development room tax in the county to allow funding of all tourist-related infrastructure.
   The original resolution by Esteban Bovo Jr. was for all infrastructure; it cited existing "unfunded infrastructure needs throughout the county." But Sally Heyman successfully urged limitation to just tourism infrastructure.
