Quirky film projects focus on South Florida

    Telling "Miami stories" has put Billy Corben and Alfred Spellman on the map as documentary filmmakers. Their 13-year-old production company, rakontur, has produced a string of documentaries — including "Cocaine Cowboys," "Square Grouper" and "The U" — that met with critical acclaim and commercial success.
   Fortunately, there's no shortage of material, the filmmakers told participants in a master class entitled "Cocaine Cowboys: The Series" at last week's 2013 Miami International Film Festival. They are embarking on a handful of projects that should keep South Florida's quirky reputation alive for now.
